A leading Uighur rights activist has criticised Muslim-majority countries for not speaking out against decades of alleged repression and persecution from the Chinese government.
Speaking in Washington on Monday, Rebiya Kadeer, a businesswoman who was jailed for years in China before being released into exile in the US, hit out at what she said was decades of “brutal suppression” of Muslims in China’s western Xinjiang region.

We don’t really know what is going on in china, west will never react on Chinese issue because china is financier of countries like US, and in fact I strongly believe USA has got their dirty hands in the event. just like Iran…..
by the way there are Han Muslims too and i believe they are more than Uighur s ,
Although whatever it is we Muslims should stand for Muslims , otherwise no one will do,
but it is funny for me why an Uighur activist talk to Muslim through American tribune?
The plight of the Uighers is indeed shameful not cause they are Muslims but because they are humans…I am not a Muslim but an atrocity on any Human being whether they are from India or Srilanka or Palestine or Sierra Leonne pains me and I condemn it whole heartedly…But why is it that Muslims only condemn atrocities agains Muslims …Is a Muslim life worthier than other lives…
I cringe when I see people not remotely connected to Palestine supporting them just cause of Religion but not condemning something that happens in Srilanka or Zimbabwe or Sierra leone…
Maybe the whole concept of Ummah is little misunderstood but as Samimaneh said if muslims dont stand for muslims ,who would … Instead why cant it be ,If humans cant stand against Inhumanity ,who would…The world would be a better place I bet….Its a pity we need to read such stuff from people like Samimaneh…

For a Muslim even one human being ’s life equals to the whole humanity , so we do care about humanity more than any other so called activists in the world, and sadly in this world no one will stand for a Muslim but a muslim…how many people like you stood for the brutal murdering of the Egyptian lady Marwah elsherbini stabbed in German open court? how many non muslims cried for such an absolute crime? i didn’t see any,,.so you better walk the talk.and leave the double standard lines .
Muslims will be better off, productive, contributing citizens of their countries once they reconcile the conflict between umma and nation-state. China has all the rights to deal with their internal problems the way they feel makes sense. Nobody is free in China, that is their system (by the way Saudi Arabia, yemen, Somalia all are like that!)
It will only create tensions and problems when they take on every other Muslim’s problem irrespective of which country they are from. When UK was killing catholics and IRA in Ireland, there was no worldwide CAtholic outcry and counter killings (Although definitely soem individuals may have contributed financial and other help); when Sri LAnka was killing Tamils in Jaffna, India and Tamils and Hindus did not get involved in that leaving it to Sri Lanka to manage the way they felt right..
It is high time Muslims leave this constant victim mentality, get educated, write books, sing and play music, be business and civic leaders, philosophers etc etc.. These constant harpings will only make them even worser than what is now..
